I always recommend WordPress as a blogging and small business software. It’s online software to run your website that allows you to keep current, and it works, relatively easily for most clients. The final point it has going is, it’s free. All you end up paying for is the hosting, which you need to have for any website.
So is setting up a website really free?
Certainly the software is. Do you need someone – like me – to get it up and running? Probably, but you would have needed me to do any website you have. This one is easier, therefore, cheaper.
What about WordPress themes, plug-ins, updates?
Yes, those are all free, too, but how to handle their selection, installation, set-up? Some users – you – might be able to do all these things yourself. WordPress explains it all and helps you out with galleries and lists and ratings, blogs, and forums. Again, all free. [ See www.wordpress.org.]
I am not free, most of the time. And, I have cruised the galleries, the lists with their ratings, the blogs, and the forums, picking up vast data as I go. I collect themes and plug-ins I discover and try them out on my offline edition of WordPress. (When you work with me, I’ll direct you to these try-out sites.)
Is WordPress for you?
So, you have free software with free themes, plug-ins and updates. The real advantage is that this WordPress website is online and accessible to you whenever you want to write or re-write something. You can keep your information fresh and accurate. You can offer visitors tips and guides and comments and deals to keep them coming back to see what’s new.
Yep, that’s free, too. Awesome!
